The Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival is pleased to once again offer a Wernick Method Jam Camp hosted by Ira Gitlin. Jam Camp will be held at Granite Hill Camping Resort festival venue beginning on Monday of festival week and concluding on Thursday. Jam Campers will on kick off the four days of non-stop, top notch bluegrass music by showcasing their new-found skills on Sterling Pavilion!!!
If you play a bluegrass instrument (guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dobro) THIS CAMP IS FOR YOU! Using the innovative methods developed by Pete “Dr. Banjo” Wernick (of Hot Rize fame), certified Wernick Method instructor Ira Gitlin will teach the “rules of the road” that will have you jamming in the very first session. No note-reading or tablature is used. You only need to play G, C, D, and A chords (or, for fiddle and bass, notes that go with those chords) and change them smoothly, and Ira and his staff (including award-winning banjoist Tom Adams) will show you the rest.
And if you’re already playing, but want to work on your higher-level jam skills, this class is for you, too!
Topics covered include the following:
•Jamming ground rules and etiquette
•Learning new songs on the fly
•Leading songs
•Finding melodies
•Faking solos
•Harmony singing.
